Exton is a small village located in the extreme southeastern portion of Pennsylvania. Known as the crossroads of Chester County, Exton is situated at the intersection of Routes 100 and 30. If you are looking for a great place to shop and conduct your business, Exton is the place for you!
History of Exton
The first inhabitants of the land that is now known as Exton were Lenni-Lenape Indians. However, during the later part of the 18th century, the area became a major thoroughfare for transportation between Philadelphia and western cities. Soon after, it also became a popular north/south route to Pottsville.
There are many theories as to how Exton got its name. While some people think that it was named after Exton in the UK, others believe it was named Exton because it served as a crossroad and looked like a large X on maps. Today, the village is a major shopping area for people living in Chester County.
